Through ignorance to the Communications Decency Act, a lot of folks believe that companies that operate search engines and video sites have the right to include legal (not pornographic, threatening or violence-inciting) content that they like as well as the right to exclude legal content that they do not like. This is a natural assumption since TV and print media publishers do exactly that. However they can also be held accountable for errors or false content they include, that results in libel or other damage, as evidenced by a number of multi-million dollar defamation suits that were the result of their stupidity and avarice that they have had to settle of late.

However the rules are different for search engines like the Google - perhaps the most censoring organization in the world that is located in a free country. Search engine provider's argument is that there is so much third party content that it is out of their control (though folks that have been censored in days or even hours know is untrue), so they were granted a special exemption based on their inability to control content under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act which states:

"No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider."

However when these Internet search engine providers censor legal content based on their political views, or kill the truth regarding effective generic drugs while advancing less effective patented drugs, for example - which they do physically as well as through built in alogarithms and manipulation of their auto-fill search box and more - they essentially become editors and publishers and should therefore no longer be exempt under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act.

So they should indeed be held fully liable, in particular for the financial damage their censorship results in to conservative organization's through loss of website income by outright removal, shadow banning, or otherwise spiking their popularity, as well as the censorship resulting in making them participants in defamation of world renowned epidemiologists, virologists, microbiologists, vaccinologists and front line treating physicians, by excluding truth and facts, while allowing lies and defamation of these professionals to stand while excluding and censoring their defense of that defamation. Like their censorship of videos of board certified ICU pulmonary care specialist Dr. Pierre Kory's testimony before Congress. Or their censorship of Dr. Peter McCullough who has nearly 700 peer reviewed journal published papers to his credit. Google - officers as well as all employees involved in censorship - should also be held accountable for crimes against humanity since their censorship of effective early outpatient treatment for COVID-19 with cheap generic drugs, while advancing comparatively worthless patented drugs, helped result in the completely unnecessary deaths of 750,000 Americans and millions more worldwide.

So search engines should either be required to stop censorship and reverse alogrithyms and search manipulation by pre-filling search boxes through bias and all other forms of biased manipulation and censorship, or accept the role as publisher and loose their exemption under Section 230 and be fully exposed to lawsuits from those they damage financially as well as physically/mortally.
